| It is possible to
build rosters interactively or use the optimizer for automatic roster
construction. Automatic legality controls are carried out during
all roster constructions. Personal rule exceptions for a crew member
can be introduced, but they have to be explicitly verified by the
planner. The roster optimizer handles many sophisticated aspects
of crew roster construction, including different aspects of training,
validating qualifications, fly below rank and language constraints.
It is possible for the planner to control desired solution properties,
such as robustness, cost-efficiency, fairness and crew requests.
For example, the user can allocate additional buffers to minimum
rest, reduce overtime costs, distribute attractive layovers and
assign cabin crews with special language skills to specific flights.
