20 April 2001: Carmen Consulting changes the world of Ground Staff Planning

Carmen Consulting has received an order to develop a module for roster optimization for Ground Staff. The project that CC will be an integral part of, is a test in planning shift-going ground staff in dated mode using Preferential Bidding at a major European carrier.

"Reapplying our optimization knowledge in new areas is a very interesting challenge for us. Today most airlines plan their check-in staff, aircraft service staff and other shift-going staff in so called snakes. It is cyclic rosters that run over quite a long period. We are convinced that in four years the leading airlines will have switched to dated planning for this category of staff as well. The improvement will help both the company and the staff through increased accuracy, the possibility of including preferential bidding aspects and the possibility of applying modern optimization techniques in the rostering," says Erik Hasselberg, Managing Director of Carmen Consulting.

The optimisation module will be ready by the end of October.
