Define scope
Decide what fleets and crew positions need to be monitored. Alerts for problems and potential problems immediately become visible. This includes illegal crews, open time, crews delayed for check-in and flights with technical problems. New problems are updated and visualized in real-time.
 
Select
Additional crew members required to solve a problem can easily be selected (e.g. all crew members in the same fleet, crews at the same stations or crews on stand-by). It is also possible to visualize historic rosters or crews from other fleets on demand.
 
Solve

It is easy to find replaceable candidates, to activate stand-by duty and to send messages to crews. The optimizer is used to solve non-trivial problems or solve many problems at the same time. Using the optimizer makes it possible to create solutions that imitate the original rosters at the same time as keeping costs down. Automatic legality controls are carried out during all recovery work. It is also possible to relax quality and legality rules in a controlled way and find solutions with acceptable rule or quality deviations.

 
Evaluate
Different scenarios can be evaluated simply by comparing basic properties, such as number of affected crews, cost of changes, communication risks, etc. When major changes are undertaken, reports are available with the same Key Performance Indicators in Carmen Crew Rostering for evaluating costs, quality, stability, fairness and bids.
 
Communicate
Crew communication, via SMS or check-in systems, can be handled automatically. Re-booking hotels, flight tickets and meal loading can also be handled automatically, via a reservation system, or manually by generating faxes or phone lists.
