Aeroméxico has a reputation in the airline industry for first-rate punctuality. In order to stay on top they are using Carmen’s Integrated Operations Control and Tail Assignment. Rolf Hoehn, Aeroméxico’s VP, U.S. Division said that on-time performance is Aeroméxico’s absolute priority. “Our staff have worked very hard for more than a decade to maintain our industry-leading record and we continue to be focused on this goal. Our customers have come to expect it from Aeroméxico and quite simply, it’s a matter of pride to us,” he said. Carmen Tail Assignment is already in production at Aeroméxico and allows Aeroméxico to synchronize the planning of crew and aircraft resulting in far less crew changes, this minimizes the risk of causing knock-on delays. Furthermore, as crew generally follow aircraft more frequently the total crew cost is reduced by more than one per cent on what are already extremely efficient crew rosters. Carmen’s Integrated Operations Control allows Aeroméxico to also use optimization for recovery on the day of operation. The system is based on three solvers for the recovery of aircraft, crew and passengers. The three solvers work together to produce the overall best solution. “Carmen has helped Aeroméxico to significantly reduce our crew costs,” said José Luis Dominguez, Production Planning VP. “We are convinced that with Carmen’s new optimization technology for operations control we can further improve our performance on the day of operation.” Magnus Wennerholm, Senior VP Marketing said, “We regard the solver project with Aeroméxico as an important milestone for Carmen. “To achieve this with an airline renowned for its on time performance is very fulfilling.”
