When I'm not working as a project manager at the implementation
department or looking after my two children and an old
house, there's not much time for hobbies. But since I
know something about time optimization I have just bought
a yacht and try to fly a glider every now and then. I
am a graduate in industrial engineering and management
from Chalmers University. I previously worked as project
manager for a company that produces control systems for
the process industry.
Today, my main responsibility is working with clients
and running projects. The aim is to make sure that the
system we have sold works in production. This involves
integrating our system into the client's IT structure
and enabling it to communicate with related systems. We
must also ensure that the planned solutions our system
creates do not conflict with the company's rules or with
trade union agreements. Last but not least we also have
to model a cost function for the optimizer ensuring that
the solutions make the crew members happy with their roster.
This is done by implementing soft properties such as quality
of life, fairness and individual preferences. The best
part of the work is the interesting mix of contacts with
people and working out solutions for complicated problems.
Why Carmen?
For two reasons. Firstly, I wanted to work for a company
where I could pass on opinions from end-users of the system
to the product developers. Secondly, I am interested in
the airline industry and I thought that Carmen would be
an interesting place to work, seeing as it has so many
airlines as clients. The best thing about Carmen is that
it is an inspirational environment with interesting people
from every corner of the world. The assignments are exciting
and complicated. One thing I can promise about working
here - your brain gets a good workout!
